If your Ford Fiesta is having trouble starting, it might be time to replace a worn-out battery. This guide will walk you through the steps from start to finish.

• Replacement battery
• Socket wrench
• Wire brush
• Battery cleaning solution or baking soda

Steps to Replace the Battery

Step 1: Find the Battery

The battery in a Ford Fiesta is typically located in the front right side of the engine compartment. Flip the latches to release the hood and prop it open.

Step 2: Disconnect the Battery Cables

Use your socket wrench to loosen the nuts on the negative (black) and then positive (red) battery cables. Once loose, you can lift the cables off the battery terminals.

Step 3: Remove the Old Battery

There should be a bracket holding the battery in place. Remove this using your socket wrench and then you can carefully lift the old battery out of the car.

Step 4: Clean the Battery Terminals

Use the wire brush and battery cleaning solution to scrub the inside of the cable connectors and the battery tray. This helps ensure a good connection with the new battery.

Step 5: Insert the New Battery

Carefully lower the new battery into the battery tray. Make sure it sits flat and securely. Reattach the bracket to hold it in place.

Step 6: Reconnect the Battery Cables

Attach the positive (red) cable to the positive battery terminal first, followed by the negative (black) cable to the negative terminal. Tighten the nuts with your socket wrench.

Step 7: Test

Close the hood and start your car. If it starts smoothly, you've successfully replaced your battery!
